IWA Demands Immediate Release of Christina Pasion! Defend our Sisters!

The International Women’s Alliance denounces the arrest of Christina Pasion, a Filipino-American activist by elements of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. On July 30, while receiving medical treatment, the AFP raided her residence, trumping her basic human rights. The arrest follows a month long red-tagging smear campaign Pasion has faced, putting her life in continuous danger.

We understand this raid and arrest as a continuation of fascist attacks on Filipino activists both in the Philippines and abroad, following the arrests of 51 activists during their PSONA protests and the killings of Filipino-American activists Lyle Prijoles and Kai Sorem, who were among the Negros 19. The Marcos-U.S. regime have done nothing but endanger the Filipino masses and now Filipino-American activists.

The Philippines government is terrified by the growing and righteous fight of the masses for national democracy. It’s clear that those who are detaining an unarmed woman seeking medical treatments are the real danger to society. The International Women’s Alliance demands her immediate release so she can continue to receive her medical treatment in a safe environment.
