We rise against wars of aggression wherever they occur. Cases abound of how wars of aggression or intervention always trample upon women’s rights and women’s bodies, where rape becomes a heinous instrument to subjugate the population and render the populace, particularly women, into slavery and servitude. 

Nanay Mameng was one of the first recipients of IWA’s Women of Valor award, in recognition of her courage and contribution to the struggle towards national democracy and women’s emancipation in the Philippines.

The Cuban Revolution has been an inspiration to poor and oppressed peoples including women and gender oppressed for many decades who continue to fight for a world free from all forms of oppression and bigotry, which stems from capitalist and imperialist greed for profits.

The victims of the killing were not rebel soldiers or carrying any weapons, they were members of the community and were simply harvesting abaca to provide for their community.

Palestine may be physically far from us, but the support system to the facist Israeli state is at our front door. In the United States, there are countless institutions that bolster apartheid — from the Jewish National Fund that helps settlers colonize Palestine, to Hewlett-Packard that provides computers and technology to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The United States continues to provide the Israeli government with over $3 billion a year in military aid. That’s money taken from our pockets to commit flagrant human rights abuses.

On this, May 1, 2021, IWA recognizes the decisive power of workers and women to struggle against facism, imperialism and patriarchy and we applaud the struggle of women workers during the last year of the global pandemic.

On this March 8, the International Women’s Alliance commemorates over 100 years of the struggle of working women demanding better working conditions, gender equality and national liberation.  We continue to uplift the voices of the most exploited and oppressed people around the world, the women laborers, domestic servants, landless peasants, farm workers, factory workers, urban poor, and the unemployed.

The International Women’s Alliance expresses its solidarity with the people of Myanmar in their fight to kick out the military dictatorship that has occupied their country. We support their call to ensure genuine democracy and ensure justice and freedom for all people of Myanmar. 

The International Women’s Alliance condemns in the strongest terms the mass and unauthorized (or forced) hysterectomies of women detainees, the majority of whom are Latinx, at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Ocilla, Georgia in the United States.

We demand justice for Jennifer Laude as part of the #SayHerName movement in the U.S. along with Breonna Taylor, and Sandra Bland murdered by the police and Sgt. Vanessa Guillen, a Latinx woman sexually assaulted and murdered by a male soldier at Fort Hood, Texas. Sexual assaults of women in the military at home and abroad are the norm, not the exception.

The International Women’s Alliance expresses our firmest solidarity with the people of the Philippines who are outraged by the recent pardon and release of US Marine Joseph Scott Pemberton.

The International Women’s Alliance (IWA) strongly condemns the arrest of Parliamentarian Leyla  Güven,  last June 4,2020.  Leyla Güven   was arrested in Diyarbakir, Turkey,  together with two other Parliament members,   HDP Musa Farisoğulları and CHP MP Enis  Berberoğlu.

IWA calls on our sisters around the globe to demonstrate and speak out in solidarity with the families of those killed in the United States, because we know the impacts of militarization on our communities. All across the world, our sisters have stories to share about the impacts of militarization and imperialism on their communities. And while these stories vary, our hearts and minds are united to take action to bring imperialism to its knees.

The International Women’s Alliance demands the immediate unconditional release of former Representative Ariel Casialo and the six volunteers of Sagip Kanayunan and Tulong Anakpawis. During this crisis, enacting these type of fascist attacks against cause oriented groups and activists who are doing humanitarian and relief work only exposes to severe lack of care by the government to the Filipino people.

Around the world we are witnessing and participating in, an unprecedented number of popular movements where women are on the frontlines. After decades of neoliberal and imperialist policies, war and weapons-based economies, increased social insecurity and cutbacks in public services, forced migration and corporate rule over every aspect of life, have laid bare like never before the growing class inequalities, and people are saying Enough! 

Despots and tyrants and right-wing leaders still use violence against women to stem women’s resistance, to whip up divisions in the opposition while playing on reactionary patriarchal ideas to achieve their reactionary aims.

Though Kashmiris have faced repression, violence amounting to crimes against humanity, in the midst of whittling down of the constitutional guarantees for more than 70 years, the situation has worsened catastrophically since August 5, 2019 when the Government of India illegally and uncosntitutionally scrapped Article 370 and Article 35A. 

We call on all justice and peace loving women and people around the world to especially honor the women victims of Japanese military sexual slavery who bravely came out and brought light to the systemic use of sexual violence as a tool of war.
