About IWA’s 3rd International Assembly

The International Women’s Alliance is excited to extend an invitation to all IWA member organizations and friends to attend our 3rd International Assembly this June 17-18 in Penang , Malaysia under the banner:

Women Resist Imperialist Wars, Militarism, and Economic Exploitation! Unite and Fight for Land, Labor Rights and Liberation!

Over the two day period the International alliance will hear from global speakers, organizers, and political leaders; we will vote on important constitutional amendments, elect a new executive committee to lead The Alliance, and continue to strengthen our resolve to build IWA’s Global Regions and to link and escalate our campaign work.

The overall program will help us understand the historic role women have played in anti-fascist and anti-imperialist struggles, the current organizing being done by women’s organizations around the world, and uniting all members to contribute to the strengthening of IWA as a leading alliance of women in the anti-imperialist struggle.

Why attend?

In this moment we find ourselves experiencing the impacts of multiple crises including climate, economic, military, and social.

In all of these, women bear a disproportionate burden because of the national and social oppression we face around the world. Strengthening the political unity and international solidarity of the International Women’s Alliance is an important undertaking to continue advancing the women’s movement around the world and to support the important organizing of our member organizations.

The International Assembly is the highest decision making body of the International Women’s Alliance, and we have many important matters to discuss and unite on as an Alliance. Our alliance has not convened the International Assembly since 2015 - and the world situation has only grown more violent, more exploitative and more dire in the last 9 years.
