Denounce US military escalations against Venezuela! Defend Venezuelan Sovereignty!
The International Women’s Alliance denounces the US’s continued escalation tactics being used against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, including the repeated bombings of civilian boats, the deployment of US troops to nearby military bases, and the touting of baseless claims against the government and the people of Venezuela.
The Trump Regime has been spreading false information, and stoking anti-Venezuelan sentiment since his first term in 2016-2020. Under the guise of “the war on terror” Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office in 2025 declaring all international drug trafficking operations to fall under the classification of “war on terror”. In September 2025 that President Maduro of Venezuela was being charged with drug trafficking, doubled the bounty for his arrest to 50 million dollars, and authorized Secretary of War (previously “Defense”) Pete Hegseth to carry out missile attacks against fishing boats allegedly carrying narcotics from Venezuela to nearby Caribbean islands. Four total attacks have killed approximately 21 unarmed Venezuelan fishermen through US foreign aggression. The deployment of increased military presence in Puerto Rico and Colombia, and the proposed construction of a US military base in Trinidad signals the US’s intent to wage war against Venezuela. Any military movement against the Bolivarian Republic threatens the lives of innocent Venezuelan civilians and Venezuelan sovereignty.
The US’ claims against Venezuela and President Maduro are baseless. UN reports have confirmed there is no evidence that Venezuela or the Caribbean are drug transit areas. Instead, Washington is using these claims as a shield to legitimize its aggressive military intervention against a country that is asserting its national independence, actively resisting US imperialism, and that is closely aligned with the US’s main adversaries: Russia and China. Its real intent to is to gain control over the region, given Venezuela has some of the largest oil reserves in the world. Access to these oil reserves would give the U.S. more influence over the region, and lessen its dependency on oil in the Middle East.
Through asserting and maintaining its independence against US imperialism Venezuela has faced harsh sanctions, economic isolation, and militarized attacks in an attempt to weaken its resolve. But we salute the people of Venezuela for staying strong in the ongoing battle to resist and oppose US influence. Countries like Venezuela are an important part of the global united front against imperialism because they help expose the hypocrisy and false narratives peddled by imperialists and their puppets. Venezuela and other countries asserting their national independence are an inspiration to people around the world who are fighting for national liberation against foreign intervention and interference.
IWA would like to especially thank Mrs. Delcy Rodriguez, Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for sending us her message on the current situation during our webinar this past September 29, 2025. Her clear message of support, delivered by Richard Lobo from the Venezuelan Embassy in the Philippines exposed the lies of the Trump Regime in order to legitimize their armed intervention and to further militarize the region. Mrs. Rodriguez shared the following call to progressive forces, independent governments and anti-imperialist movements:
“[T]o speak out and denounce the continued military presence throughout the world, both through its military bases and military excersizes at sea, which must be free from all hegemonic intimidation”
Mr. Lobo shared that her words and call to action were reflective of all of Venezuelan society stating:
“This is the main intention that all progressive forces including women including the grassroots movements to speak out and to denounce everything that is happening all over the not only in Latin America, not only in the Caribbean, but also in Southeast Asia, in South Asia, and everywhere.”
IWA reiterates the call to denounce the US’s military escalations against Venezuela and Venezuelan civilians, and to continue exposing and opposing US narratives which undermine national sovereignty, intimidate independent governments, and spread false claims to justify military intervention globally. We extend our international solidarity to all people fighting for national liberation, all countries asserting national independence, and all exploited people around the world resisting US imperialism and fighting for a better future.
