Women of the World, Rise Against Corruption and Fascism!

The 2025 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women comes as the world witnesses a wave of militant protests—not only against massive corruption by governments in many Asia-Pacific countries, but more importantly against the deeply rotten global economic order that systematically disadvantages the majority of working-class peoples, especially in the Global South. Vulnerable sectors such as women, children, and LGBTQIA+ communities continue to bear the brunt of the resulting socio-economic and political crises both domestically and globally.

As our communities struggle to survive, local ruling elites and transnational corporations rake in billions in profits from our labor and our taxes. The justified anger and demands for accountability from the oppressed and exploited are being met with unparalleled vitriol and repression from state forces—from violent mass arrests of protesters to intensified military operations in communities heavily affected by the plunder of public coffers and natural resources.

In this context, the broadest and militant alliance of Filipino women—GABRIELA—will hold this year’s IDEVAW commemoration and One Billion Rising Philippines kick-off with the theme: Women of the World, Rise Against Corruption and Fascism!

We call on our sisters and brothers in the struggle across the globe to stand in solidarity with Filipino women and the Filipino people in the fight to end all forms of violence against women and children. We urge the international community to amplify the Filipino people’s demands for accountability and systemic change. End bureaucrat capitalism, imperialism, and feudalism!
